Corinth

Well, I’m back in Athens after the day trip to the ancient sites of Corinth & Eleusis! We got on the bus at 7:30am this morning, and returned around 5:00pm this evening. It was a beautiful trip… the places were awesome. We first went to Eleusis, and walked around the site for about an hour and a half and visited the museum that was on-site. Next, we drove to Corinth and checked out the museum on-site (which was amazing, by the way—wait ‘til I post the pictures!) and then walked around the site for about a half-hour. We took a break for lunch, and a couple of us went to this pizza place that was most excellent… they made the pizza with the cheese Greeks use for saganakis (kasseri cheese)! It was sooooo good. We got the good ole fashioned meat-lovers :) After the Corinth site, we took the bus up to the site of the Akrocorinth, which is basically the Acropolis of Corinth. Jessica, Carrie, and I hiked up to the very top, which we saw what remains of the Temple of Aphrodite. While at this site, one of the guys in our group Patrick Chung had to give a site report on the Akrocorinth—he did an amazing job and we all learned a lot! I have to do a site report for the last site we will venture to at the end of April, Marathon, so I have some time to prepare. We drove back to Athens, and I passed out for a couple hours, then took my 15 lb. bag of laundry to the Laundromat where they do all your washing and drying for you… thanks goodness. I love that place! They actually have DRYERS! It’s so un-Greek-like, alas, I will have my full wardrobe available to me before our group ventures off on the Peloponnese trip which starts Tuesday and ends Saturday.

I believe that that is all for now! Kalo sabbatokyriako (have a good weekend)!
